Form 13F
What large funds report holding.
Every institution with more than $100 million in US-listed shares files a Form 13F with the SEC each quarter: what it held on the last day of the quarter. Here are 28 of them, read line by line and compared with the quarter before.
What a 13F leaves out. It is filed up to 45 days after the quarter ends, so it shows positions that may already have changed. It lists only long positions in US-listed shares and some options: no short positions, no cash, no bonds, no shares listed elsewhere, and nothing about when or why anything was bought or sold. It describes part of a fund at one date — not what the fund is doing, and not a reason to do anything.
