SphinxRisk
Terms of service

The agreement, in plain words.

By creating an account you accept these terms. They are short on purpose: each section says one thing, and none of them promises something the product does not do.

01

Who you are dealing with

Sphinx Risk is operated by the founder of Sphinx Risk, a private individual in Switzerland. You can reach us at support@sphinxrisk.com; we answer within two working days.

Payments are handled by Polar (Polar Software Inc.), which acts as the merchant of record: for the purchase itself, Polar is the seller. It charges your card, applies the sales tax or VAT of your country, and issues your invoice. That is why your bank statement shows Polar and not Sphinx Risk, and why Polar's buyer terms also apply to the payment.

02

What the service is

Software that measures a portfolio from the trades you record: risk, return, concentration, valuation and the rest described on the site.

It is not investment advice and it places no orders. Nothing it shows is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything, and no part of it can move money or send an order to a broker. Decisions about your money are yours.

Market data comes from third parties and is not guaranteed to be complete, correct or on time. The details — where each figure comes from and what it does not mean — are on What this is and its limits, which forms part of these terms.

03

Your account

One account per person, with an email address you can read. Keep your password to yourself; what happens in your account is your responsibility unless you tell us it has been compromised.

We may suspend an account that attacks the service, tries to reach other people's data, scrapes it automatically or resells access to it. Where we can, we tell you first and give you the chance to export your data.

04

Plans, paying and cancelling

  • The free plan stays free. What it includes is on Pricing.
  • Prices are shown in euros. For customers in Europe and most other countries the price shown already includes VAT; in the United States, Canada and India tax is added at checkout. The checkout shows the exact total before you pay.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. Cancel at any time from Account → Manage billing; you keep the plan until the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing more is charged.
  • The one-off plan is a single payment for access to the paid features for as long as Sphinx Risk operates, with the monthly copilot allowance stated on the pricing page.
  • Price changes never touch a period you have already paid for. If the price of your subscription changes, we email you at least 30 days before the next renewal, so you can cancel first.
  • Refunds follow the refund policy: fourteen days, no questions.
05

If the service stops

We work to keep Sphinx Risk available but do not guarantee it will be without interruption; maintenance, provider outages and mistakes happen.

If we ever close it for good, we email every account at least 30 days before, so you can export your trades. Subscriptions stop renewing and the unused part of the current period is refunded. One-off purchases made in the 24 months before the closure are refunded in proportion to the months left of those 24 — a one-off bought six months before the closure gets three quarters back.

06

Your data

The trades you record are yours. You can download them at any time as a CSV and delete your account whenever you want; deleting removes the rows themselves. What is stored, what leaves the server and who processes it is on the Privacy page.

You give us permission to store and process that data only to run the service for you. We do not sell it and do not use it for anything else.

07

Responsibility

Sphinx Risk is not responsible for investment decisions you make, or for losses that follow from them, including decisions informed by figures shown here.

Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the event that caused it.

None of this limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or any right you have as a consumer that the law says cannot be waived.

08

Law, and changes to these terms

These terms are governed by Swiss law. If you use Sphinx Risk as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and the courts there remain open to you.

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we email you at least 30 days before the change applies. Continuing to use the service after that date means accepting the new version; if you do not, you can cancel and the refund policy applies as usual.
